Utah Jazz: A new era has arrived in SLC for the rebuilding Jazz
Ochai Agbaji is an intriguing rookie prospect
Ochai Agbaji is an intriguing prospect fresh off a national title victory at Kansas as he was named the Most Oustanding Player in the 2022 NCAA Tournament which proves that the Jazz is getting a player with a winning pedigree.
Many analysts have predicted that Agbaji will be nothing more than a role player coming off the bench but I strongly disagree with the critics. When I see Agbaji I see a player with untapped potential who is capable of being a leader is placed around the right personnel and good coaches.
He should be much better off in Salt Lake City than in Cleveland due to the fact that he will have the opportunity to win a starting job. If he doesn’t, he still could earn minutes off the bench as the jazz can be patient with his development and eventually ease him into a starting role.
Agbaji is a good decision-maker and a player who doesn’t have to dominate the ball in order to impact a game. He also is an excellent defender who can shoot the three and is in control at all times while giving maximum effort.
The only notable aspects of his game that needs improving are his ball handling and free throw shooting but those are things that can easily be corrected. The Jazz is still considering trading away veterans remaining on the roster.
Among the players who could be moved are Bojan Bogdanovich, Jordan Clarkson, Rudy Gay, and Mike Conley. If or whenever these are moved Agjabi will have the chance to solidify his spot on the roster and will have every opportunity to prove that the Cavs made a huge mistake by trading him away.
