There’s still no timeline for Lonzo Ball’s return to the Chicago Bulls lineup.

The Chicago Bulls are one of the dark horse candidates in the Eastern Conference. However, it’s going to be increasingly difficult for the Bulls to play to that level without a fully healthy roster. Including Lonzo Ball, who was lost at the latter portion of last season.

And the news continues to be discouraging regarding Ball’s possible return to the Bulls’ lineup. There were already whispers that he may not be ready for the start of training camp, but the most recent reports are even worse.

The loss of Lonzo Ball can’t be truly measured

At least for now, according to a recent report, there’s still no timeline for when the Bulls expect Ball to be back in the team’s on-the-court plans.

"[via NBC Sports]There’s a reason the Bulls haven’t officially and publicly put a timeline on Ball’s return since he blew past their initial one of six to eight weeks way back in January. That’s when Ball underwent arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus. They don’t know when he’ll be back. Some days when Ball works out, everything seems fine. Others, discomfort flares again."

Ball’s injury has been one of the biggest mysteries of the NBA. He was originally slated to only miss a few weeks, but there’s now an expectation that he will miss training camp and the start of this season. Overall, it’s a huge bummer. Especially considering that he was a huge part of Chicago’s early-season success from last year.

If there was any hope that the Bulls would be able to replicate that this season, in almost every scenario, it included Ball playing a big role. And to hear that he probably won’t be healthy to start the year is pretty concerning.

This entire situation just puts a huge pause on what we could/should expect from the Bulls this season. It’s impossible to try and predict what this season will entail without knowing Ball’s availability.
