30 in 30: Can a rejuvenated James Harden power the Philadelphia 76ers?
The roster improvements that the Philadelphia 76ers made this offseason
Even if it presented itself, the Philadelphia 76ers elected to hold off on making a big deal during the offseason. Instead of swinging for the fences, they thought it was the better move to believe in their stars (Harden, Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey), and continue to perfect the supporting cast.
And they did a fairly good job in that aspect. The Sixers may not have made a blockbuster move, but they did add a few pieces that should help them throughout this season.
First, the Sixers made the great move of adding PJ Tucker via free agency. Not only will it help their defense but it also weakens one of Philadelphia’s biggest rivals (Miami Heat). De’Anthony Melton was added via trade and should be another wing contributor that will give the team depth they didn’t have last season.
And Danuel House is an underrated move to the backcourt that likely won’t get the credit that it deserves. The Sixers may not have improved at the top but they certainly added another layer of depth to their foundation.
The Sixers are stronger, tougher, and deeper. And that matters in the NBA.
