NBA Trade Rumors: Phoenix Suns appear to be shopping Jae Crowder
NBA Trade Rumors: Phoenix Suns openly shopping Jae Crowder?
The Phoenix Suns are coming off an odd ending to their season last year and one chaotic offseason that eventually led to the team running it back. However, there’s still a chance the Suns could tweak their roster before the official start of the regular season. Or if not then, definitely before the NBA Trade Deadline.
And one player that the Suns have been rumored to be open to moving is Jae Crowder. Even though that kind of quieted down after the Suns lost out in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, the recent reporting suggests they are still openly shopping Crowder. If that is indeed so, it could make for an interesting first couple of weeks for the Suns in training camp.
Contenders in need of frontcourt help should target Jae Crowder
Crowder could still prove to be a valuable player at this stage in his career. He may be considered inconsistent but could be useful due to his versatility on the defensive end. Because of his potential on that end of the floor, he could be viewed as a valuable or worthwhile target for many contenders.
He may be coming off a “down” season but still managed to average nine points on 35 percent shooting from 3-point range. Add that to his defensive potential and it’s hard not to envision teams being interested.
Even more so considering he’s an expiring contract after this season, so teams could view him as a rental with the incentive of having a strong chance of re-signing him during the offseason if it all works out.
Crowder may no longer be a player in his prime, but at 32 years old he’s still a player that could offer value to a team looking for depth at the forward position. It’ll be interesting to see how his market develops over the next few weeks.
