NBA Trade Rumors: Jae Crowder would welcome a trade to the Miami Heat. It’s all coming together.

When the Miami Heat didn’t sign Jae Crowder to an extension after their magical run to the NBA Finals in the bubble, many viewed it as a mistake. A couple of years later, there’s a chance that is all made right by the Heat.

During the offseason, the Heat was casually linked to Crowder as a possible landing spot in the event that the Phoenix Suns would be willing to move on from him. Crowder is on an expiring contract and is likely to move on away from Phoenix during the offseason.

And over the last couple of weeks, the Crowder-to-Heat noise has not stopped. In fact, it has only strengthened. To the extent that it’s reported that the Suns are shopping Crowder and that he would (theoretically) be open to a trade to the Heat.

Jae Crowder to the Miami Heat makes too much sense

Objectively, a Jae Crowder to the Miami Heat trade makes too much sense to not happen. Generally, that often means that it won’t happen. However, it makes a ton of sense when you think about it.

From the Suns’ perspective, it’s unlikely that they are going to re-sign him during the offseason. They could look to add an asset before the summer. From the Heat’s perspective, they need to find a replacement for PJ Tucker and while Crowder doesn’t exactly do what Tucker does to a T, he’s probably the best possible replacement on the open market.

And if Crowder is open to a move, there’s really nothing stopping from a deal getting done.

The biggest question is what it would actually cost for the Heat to get him. If this move doesn’t get done, it’s probably because the Suns are asking for too much. Either way, don’t be surprised that if some point this season Crowder was back in a Heat uniform.
