Devin Booker’s continued ascension

If the Phoenix Suns are going to be a serious contender in the Western Conference once again this season, a large portion of that will rely on Devin Booker’s continued ascension. In that sense, Chris Paul’s presence and leadership on the team has done wonders for Booker.

Now, it’s time for Booker to make another leap in his progression. He’s on the verge of superstardom and just needs to make one more step. Booker left a bit to be desired with his performance in the postseason but you can probably use his injury as a fair excuse.

If healthy, he needs to prove that he can take the Suns to the next level. Paul is 37, Deandre Ayton is good but not a star, and the team’s supporting cast is more than good enough.

Booker will be a huge reason why the Suns contend this season or why they don’t. All eyes are squarely on Booker and the Suns need him to step up in a big way this year.
