Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics

There was a point this offseason when it seemed as if the Boston Celtics were going to land Kevin Durant and it was going to come at the cost of Jaylen Brown. In the end, the Nets weren’t serious about trading Durant and nothing came of it. You know, other than the possibility of a fractured relationship between the Celtics and Brown.

The NBA is a business but it’s hard to not let the rumor mill affect you. And for Brown, you can’t believe that he was unfazed about the possibility of being traded this summer. But it’s not just that. Brown has two years remaining on his current roster with the Celtics. It’s around that time that he must decide what he wants to do with his future.

He could sign an extension with the Celtics next summer or he could ask for a trade elsewhere. And if the Celtics get off to a rough start this season, which considering their unfortunate end to the offseason wouldn’t be surprising, perhaps Brown sees an opportunity for him to hit the escape button.
