Victor Wembanyama may be the best NBA Draft prospect ever
Victor Wembanyama may end up being the best NBA Draft prospect ever.
LeBron James was once the hottest prospect ever to enter the NBA Draft. James had it all; he was a can’t-miss prospect and a man amongst boys. Thousands would line up to see him play live, and the world was waiting on the edge of their seats for him to enter the NBA. James ended up as one of the best to ever play the game.
Coming into his 20th season in the league, he is still known as one of the best, even at 38 years of age. But is there a prospect potentially better than LeBron James? The answer is yes. Victor Wembanyama is that.
The 7-foot-4 monster from France might be the hottest prospect we have ever seen. Wembanyama can do it all. We have never seen a player of his caliber at his height, and it doesn’t make sense. His 8-foot wing span is unfair. He can dunk on the tips of his toes, block 3-point attempts from a distance, and stop any layup or dunk attempt if they come anywhere close.
The hype surrounding Victor Wembanyama
Wembanyama will enter the NBA as the tallest player in the league, yes, he is taller than Boban Marjanovic and Kristaps Porzingis, and the rumor is that he is closer to 7-foot-6 than 7-foot-4. A player of that height who can just defend is a solid addition to any team, but a player that tall with his skills makes him a real unicorn, maybe a dragon, whatever is more mythical.
Wembanyama has guard skills; that’s right, a 7-foot-4 player has guard skills, and it’s for real. Wembanyama, the No. 1 prospect, went up against the No. 2 prospect Scoot Henderson, where the Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92 went up against the G League Ignite.
The Ignite won 122-115, and it was one of the most enjoyable, electric young matchups we have ever seen. Henderson and Wembanyama were the main attraction. While Henderson looked terrific in his own right, Wembanyama did it all. He dribbled up the floor, drove to the basket, and looked like something you would make in a video game. Wembanyama finished the game with 37 points, four rebounds, and five blocks. Not to forget, he also made 7-11 three-pointers, unbelievable unless you watched it live.
Webanyama is the best prospect ever. There has never been a 7-foot-4 center with guard handles, three-point shooting, and great vision. He has confidence in himself, as he stated before the matchup against The G-league Ignite:
Victor Wembanyama has it all. Teams should never tank for a player, but this year is different. Wembanyama is worth not even winning a single game, and if an NBA team tanks and doesn’t get the first overall pick, Scoot Henderson is well worth it. If Henderson were in any other draft class, he would go first overall.
But, the best NBA prospect to ever grace the earth will go No. 1 overall in 2023, and that man is Victor Wembanyama.
