NBA Trade Rumors: Mo Bamba could be a hot commodity at the trade deadline.
It was somewhat of a shock that the Orlando Magic re-signed Mo Bamba to a two-year deal this past offseason. However, that doesn’t mean the Magic still can’t elect to trade him at some point once he becomes trade eligible.
It wouldn’t be an idea the Magic would completely ignore. Orlando is rebuilding and has a collection of young frontcourt players that there’s a chance Bamba may not be in the team’s long-term building plans.
And the potential market for Bamba could be vast, even deeper than his free-agent market.
Multiple contenders could pursue Mo Bamba
According to a recent report, there could be a number of teams interested in a potential trade for Bamba. This report lists the Miami Heat, who have already been linked to Bamba in the past, the Los Angeles Lakers, and Brooklyn Nets as possible landing spots.
Bamba may not be a star but he’s the type of center that could prove to be valuable for a team trying to win a championship. He does many of the small things that don’t pop off the stat sheet. Plus, he’s on an affordable contract.
The Magic signed Bamba to a two-year, $20 million deal this past summer.
Bamba is coming off the best season of his career thus far, averaging 10 points, eight rebounds, and nearly two blocks per game on 48 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from 3-point range.
Bamba could emerge as one of the most sought-after players at the trade deadline if the Magic show any willingness to move him later during the season. And with how crowded their frontcourt is, it would be far from surprising for this to come to fruition at some point close to or at the NBA Trade Deadline.
At the very least, Bamba is a name to keep an eye on.
