NBA Trade Rumors: The New York Knicks, Miami Heat, and Memphis Grizzlies have been named as potential landing spots for Josh Richardson.

The 2022-23 NBA regular season is set to begin in a little over a week and soon enough that will prompt the start of the rumor mill ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline. It’s bound to happen, whether that’s escalated forward due to injuries or tanking.

Either way, the expectation is that there’s going to be a strong trade market heading into this year’s deadline. And one name that could be of interest to many contenders is San Antonio Spurs guard Josh Richardson.

Richardson is entering the final year of his contract with the Spurs and is unlikely to re-sign when he hits free agency during the summer. It would be somewhat of a shock if he wasn’t traded at the deadline.

What Josh Richardson could offer teams

And according to a recent report, the likes of the Miami Heat, New York Knicks, and Memphis Grizzlies have all been linked to Richardson.

Richardson is an interesting, versatile player that could be a great asset for a team trying to add depth to their roster ahead of the playoffs. He’s bounced around over the last few years of his career but is still very much a player that could add value to a contender.

Richardson is coming off a season in which he averaged 10 points and three rebounds on 44 percent shooting from the field and 42 percent shooting from 3-point range. He’s also capable of being a versatile defender, which is probably one of the most valuable attributes in his game.

Of course, in order for Richardson to even be on the table, the Spurs would have to get to that point. And at least to start the year, it doesn’t seem as if they are.

That can change and almost certainly will, but until then, Richardson is nothing more than just a name to keep an eye on.
