NBA Trade Rumors: The Atlanta Hawks have emerged as a potential suitor for Jae Crowder.

After allowing him to stay away from the team during training camp, Jae Crowder remains away from the Phoenix Suns as they continue looking for a trade for him. While there hasn’t been much progression – or at least not reportedly – a few teams have been linked to Crowder.

Last week it was reported that the likes of the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Dallas Mavericks would all be interested in Crowder. Now, another team has been thrown into the mix.

According to a recent report, the Atlanta Hawks have emerged as a potential suitor for Jae Crowder.

Would Jae Crowder make sense for the Atlanta Hawks?

The Hawks are an interesting potential suitor for several reasons. For one, it’s become pretty clear that the Hawks are all-in on winning this season. Second, what type of role would he have on the team?

From what we know about Crowder is that he probably wants to get paid and wants to start. I’m not sure if the Hawks could offer him any of those things.

Unless the Hawks plan on starting him at the small forward position, Crowder to Atlanta doesn’t make a ton of sense. But we’ve seen stranger things.

Maybe Atlanta is willing to move a talented De’Andre Hunter or Bogdan Bogdanovic to Phoenix for Crowder? Maybe the Hawks are willing to trade some young talent for a more veteran presence?

I don’t know if that would be the smartest move for the Hawks but it’s something that perhaps the team is willing to do if it means they will have a better chance of making a return to the conference finals.

Crowder is going to get traded at some point over the next couple of weeks. You’d have to imagine that this is not going to be something that lingers that long into the regular season. That said, I do have my doubts that it will end up being to the Hawks.
