NBA: Predicting the top 9 scoring duos of the 2022-23 season
By Dan Knitzer
Minnesota Timberwolves
Karl-Anthony Towns: 26 points per game
Anthony Edwards: 24 points per game
Minutes per game will not be a concern for the aspiring Minnesota Timberwolves’ young players. Last year, Anthony Edwards took more shots than Karl Anthony-Towns, and it’s clear Edwards has the higher ceiling of either guy, but I think signing a super-max necessitates Towns take a two-way leap, especially at creating his own shot.
To be clear, even if D’Angelo Russell continues to score 20, and multiple role players exceed 12, there will be buckets for the duo to get.
New Orleans Pelicans
Zion Williamson: 26 points per game
Brandon Ingram: 24 points per game
These numbers are identical to my predictions for this team last year. This team will be an absolute offensive juggernaut, and I expect Zion Williamson could win a scoring title if not for organizational concerns for his health.
Therefore, like Leonard and George, I expect he will not play enough minutes to truly stuff the scoring column.
