NBA Rumors: The Golden State Warriors and Jordan Poole are expected to come to an agreement on a contract extension soon.

The defending champion Golden State Warriors currently have their hands full at the moment. Not only do they have to deal with the Draymond Green situation but they must also figure out how they’re going to handle the contract extension dealing that is quickly approaching for Jordan Poole.

Poole is eligible for a rookie-scale extension and should he fail to come to an agreement with the Warriors, he’s slated to hit restricted free agency next summer. However, the hope – and perhaps expectation – is that the Warriors won’t have to cross that bridge with Poole.

According to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater, the expectation is that the Warriors and Poole will come to an agreement on a contract extension.

Jordan Poole could be the next Golden State Warriors star

Poole is one of the most intriguing players heading into the 2022-23 NBA season for the Warriors. Not only could he continue to change the math for the team but he could be the bridge that the team needs to continue to compete at a high level when the team’s current headling trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green takes a step back.

Poole is coming off a breakout season in which he averaged 18.5 points and four assists on 45 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent shooting from 3-point range. To make matters even better, there’s a good chance that he hasn’t even begun to play the best possible basketball.

Poole is just 23 years old and is in a situation that may be perfect for his emerging status. The Warriors don’t need Poole to be a savior. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the potential to be.

And it would be wise for Golden State to lock him up before he hits the open market. And it sounds like that’s exactly about to happen.
