NBA Trade Rumors: Phoenix Suns interested in Jordan Clarkson?
NBA Trade Rumors: The Phoenix Suns would be interested in acquiring Jordan Clarkson to release some pressure off their backcourt.
After an up-and-down offseason, the expectation is that the Phoenix Suns are not done adjusting their roster. They’re expected to make a trade or two at some point in the next few weeks. Jae Crowder is the one name that many expect the Suns to move. But there are some other whispers that suggest that may not be the only move Phoenix ends up making.
According to a recent report, the Suns would be interested in acquiring Jordan Clarkson from the Utah Jazz.
Would Jordan Clarkson make sense for the Phoenix Suns?
On the surface, Clarkson would theoretically make sense for the Suns. Especially if they want to slowly ease the pressure (and minutes) that Chris Paul tracks this season. Clarkson isn’t a player that can carry the load that Devin Booker or Paul are expected to carry this season for the Suns, but could be a valuable spot player for the team.
Clarkson is coming off a season in which he averaged 16 points and four rebounds on 42 percent shooting from the field off the bench for the Utah Jazz. Ideally, he would be able to do the same for the Suns. If he could, that would immediately offer a great value than any other backcourt bench player the team currently has on its roster.
It’s a missing piece that the Suns don’t have at the moment. For as good as Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet are, Clarkson is a different type of player.
If the Suns could figure out how to get a deal for him done, it would, without question, be an upgrade to the team. However, at least for now, there’s nothing of substance report. Just a level of interest. It’s certainly something to keep an eye on, however.
