NBA Trade Rumors: In exchange for Jae Crowder, it seems as if the Phoenix Suns are seeking a win-now asset.
The growing expectation is that Jae Crowder is going to be traded at some point over the next few weeks. And the hope is that it happens sooner rather than later. But what could make things a bit complicated is the fact that the Phoenix Suns are looking for a win-now asset in any deal for Crowder.
That’s according to Marc Stein. Per Stein, the Suns are reportedly looking for a rotation player in exchange for Crowder. To a certain extent, that makes sense. After all, why would the Suns willingly trade Crowder without replacing him in the rotation?
Crowder is still a viable player even though Phoenix no longer viewed him as a starter for the team. Whether it’s a player off the bench, it’s clear that the Suns want a player in exchange that they could give minutes if necessary.
Crowder may be an expiring contract but Phoenix is still looking to get value for him on the open market. The question is, will they achieve that goal? Because often in the NBA, especially when trying to pull off an in-season trade, that could be easier said than done.
There are several teams reportedly interested in Crowder. But the reason that a deal has not been finalized probably has something to do with the fact that neither team has met Phoenix’s trade demands.
That could potentially change as the season begins and injuries begin to arise across the league, and the good news is that it only takes one team to meet Phoenix’s demands.
Nevertheless, the Crowder trade market is still something to keep an eye on. He will eventually be moved but the Suns’ asking price could make things complicated.
What will the Suns be able to get in exchange for Crowder, it seems like we’re going to find out soon.
