14. Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are a team that should probably be ranked higher at the start of the season but because of their disappointment last year, they come in with the middle of the pack. If LeBron James and Anthony Davis can remain healthy, and they can figure out a resolution for Russell Westbrook, this Lakers team could emerge as a dark horse threat in the Western Conference.

For now, though, it’s a wait-and-see approach for the Lakers in the West.

13. Dallas Mavericks

Heading into this season, I’m not sure if Luka Doncic is enough to keep the Dallas Mavericks as a contender in the Western Conference. Losing Jalen Brunson will hurt and I’m not sure if Tim Hardaway Jr. and Spencer Dinwiddie will be the answer to replace his production.

Nevertheless, the Mavs should be penciled in at the start of the season. We should get a better idea of what this team will be after the first couple of weeks of the regular season.
