NBA Trade Rumors: The Phoenix Suns declined an interesting trade offer from the Miami Heat.
When training camp opened, it became abundantly clear that Jae Crowder had played his final game in a Phoenix Suns uniform. That was because the team allowed Crowder to skip camp and stay at home until the Suns had found a new home for him.
Of course, the problem with that is there’s no clear timeframe for when that is going to actually come to fruition. It could happen at any given moment but at the same time, it may not come until the trade deadline.
Either way, it has left both the Suns and Crowder in an awkward situation. Though, according to a recent report, the Suns recently declined a trade offer from the Miami Heat, who are hoping to get a reunion with Crowder.
Per the report, the Heat tried to flip Duncan Robinson to the Suns in exchange for Crowder. However, the Suns, as you would expect, were not interested in making the move. Crowder is an expiring contract and it would appear as if the Suns didn’t want to take on Robinson’s contract.
Beyond this season, Robinson still has two years remaining on his current contract with the Heat, to go along with a player option for a third year. Simply put, unless the Heat is willing to include an additional asset, it would be surprising if the Suns were open to such a trade.
The waiting game continues for the Phoenix Suns and Jae Crowder
At least for now, it appears that the waiting game is going to continue for the Suns and Crowder. Though, it was also recently reported that the Suns have spoken with at least two other interested teams in the Eastern Conference – Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks.
Whether any of those two teams could actually pull off a trade remains to be seen. At least for now, it doesn’t appear as if Crowder is getting moved anytime soon.
