Los Angeles Lakers: It’s all falling apart for LeBron James in Los Angeles

It’s all beginning to fall apart for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Perhaps somewhat foolishly, there was hope just a few weeks ago. Hope that the Los Angeles Lakers, with a fresh start this season, would be able to turn the page on a disappointing year. The front office rebuilt the team’s supporting cast and both LeBron James and Anthony Davis would be entering the season healthy.

That hope quickly dwindled, though. Through the first week and a half of the season, the Lakers are one of three teams still winless in the NBA at 0-4. Russell Westbrook looks as bad as he did last season and AD is already battling a few nagging injuries.

In short, it suddenly feels like everything is beginning to fall apart for LeBron James and the Lakers. The hope is gone, the reality is beginning to set in, and there are not many moves the team can make to drastically alter their trajectory for the year.

LeBron James may have already won his last NBA title

And after LeBron James signed an extension with the Lakers this past offseason, coupled with how this organization is currently run and where it currently stands in the Western Conference hierarchy, you can’t help but wonder what will be next. For both LeBron and the Lakers.

There’s a realistic chance that LeBron may have already won his last NBA Championship. That’s not outlandish to say considering where the Lakers find themselves. What’s even more of a shame is the fact that LeBron may not even be in a position (with the Lakers for the next three seasons) where he can compete for one again.

Even if the Lakers can trade Westbrook, there aren’t many stars out there that would help the Lakers to the point where they’d emerge as a contender. The one potential move that the team could make that would help open a route to potential contention is trading Anthony Davis.

Though, for a myriad of reasons, I simply don’t see how they can do that. Not right now at least.

This season is looking like another lost season for the Lakers and LeBron. The Lakers may be able to recover from this bad start and may even be able to sneak into the playoffs. But it’s hard to envision this team being much of a contender. Not with the way they’re assembled at the moment.

It’s all falling apart for the Lakers and LeBron. The sad part is all they can do is watch it all tumble.
