NBA Trade Rumors: Dallas Mavericks could target Ben Simmons?
NBA Trade Rumors: As the ship continues to sink in Brooklyn, the Dallas Mavericks are a team that could target Ben Simmons via trade.
The Brooklyn Nets are a mess and are a team that is in complete disarray. If the opportunity would present itself, the Dallas Mavericks are ready to take full advantage of that.
According to a recent report, the Mavs are a team that could be open to the possibility of making a play for Ben Simmons if he would become available on the trade market. At least for now, the Nets aren’t opening shopping Simmons, so this may be a moot point.
But, at the very least, the idea of a Luka Doncic-Ben Simmons backcourt would be quite intriguing. But there are a lot of variables that would have to fall into place for this to even become a reality.
Would Ben Simmons be a good fit in Dallas?
With how Simmons has played through the first few games of this season, it’s difficult to say if Simmons would be a good fit on any team. And I’m not sure if another change of scenery would help much.
The hope was that a change of scenery would help Simmons. But that has not been the case thus far in Brooklyn. In fact, you can make the argument that Simmons has been a lesser player so far in Brooklyn than he was in Philadelphia.
Then again, Simmons has still only played a handful of games so far in Brooklyn. He’s still probably working through rust and getting back in game shape. But it’s not like he would be ducking the pressure and spotlight in Dallas.
Playing next to Luka Doncic may even attract more pressure than he currently has with the Nets. Should he land in Dallas, the expectation would be that he could be the star that helps this team get over the top. And, more importantly, the missing piece that Doncic has been missing next to him through the first few years of his career.
Despite how bad things have started off in Brooklyn, I’m not sure that’s something Simmons needs in his life right now. Nevertheless, if he does become available, it seems like Dallas, according to this report, would be intrigued by the idea.
