NBA Trade Rumors: Jae Crowder expected to be moved soon?
NBA Trade Rumors: The Phoenix Suns may be inching closer and closer to a Jae Crowder trade.
Before the start of the season, the Phoenix Suns and Jae Crowder came to an agreement that he would be able to remain away from the team until the team found a new landing spot for him. However, almost two months have passed since that agreement, and Crowder is still waiting to find a new team.
Though, perhaps the end of his waiting may be near. According to a recent report, the Suns have recently picked up trade talks with inquiring teams about Crowder. I’m not sure if this is a signal that a trade is coming, but it is certainly one that suggests perhaps the Suns want to move on from Crowder sooner rather than later.
It makes sense for the Phoenix Suns to trade Jae Crowder soon rather than later
And it makes sense, considering that the Suns are at a point where they need an additional asset in the frontcourt. And if it’s not going to be Crowder, it needs to be someone that perhaps Crowder could bring in return via trade.
Cam Johnson is expected to be out a couple of months with an injury and having Crowder just sitting at home, essentially wasting a roster spot, makes a little-to-no sense for the Suns at the moment. It makes sense that they should try to move Crowder sooner rather than later, and hope that whatever they get in exchange would be a player that Phoenix could utilize in some way or form in their current rotation.
While that still may be far from a guarantee, it does make sense for the Suns to just sit with the Crowder situation unresolved.
The Suns will need to trade Crowder at some point and it’s pretty clear that the offers for him are not going to get any better. In fact, you can make the case that they’re only going to get worse the more Crowder is away from the game of basketball.
There’s still plenty of time before the NBA trade deadline, but I’m not sure the Suns want to have this Crowder situation to continue handing over the heads until then. The big question that remains is which team is going to step up with their offer. From all indications, it doesn’t seem that said team will need to dramatically.
