NBA Trade Rumors: 6 ‘championship cores’ that badly need to be retooled
LA Clippers
The LA Clippers’ record may not look as bad as some of the other teams on this list but I have some very big concerns about this team. Kawhi has not looked healthy so far to start this season and I can’t help but wonder if he’ll ever look like his old self consistently again. And if not, that could pose big problems for the Clippers’ championship chances.
Kawhi has only played in two games this season for LA. And in those two games, he’s only averaging 13 points and seven rebounds on 44 percent shooting from the field in 21 minutes played per contest. I don’t know about you, but that does not seem like a stat line of a player that is close. Not to mention that he’s missed more than a month since he played those two games.
If Kawhi is not right, this championship build doesn’t work. Paul George is not a No. 1 and he can’t be for a championship team. If the Clippers realize or come to the conclusion that Kawhi is never going to be Kawhi again, it could be time for a major roster shakeup.
