Cam Reddish

Cam Reddish is a natural trade candidate heading into the deadline. For one, you can’t overlook the salary situation that the Knicks is facing heading into next offseason. They have a ton of cap space on their sheet but I’m not sure they want to roll the dice on Reddish testing the restricted free agency market.

The Knicks aren’t entirely sold on Reddish. That was clear when they didn’t agree to a contract extension before the season. Maybe the Knicks would be better off trying to get an asset in exchange for Reddish before they possibly lose him for nothing in the offseason.

Reddish is averaging 20 minutes per game so far this season. It’s clear the Knicks are trying to see what they have in him. At the same time, he’s been pretty meh with this opportunity that he’s getting. So far this season, he’s only averaging seven points per game on 41 percent shooting from the field and 32 percent shooting from 3-point range.

He also has a 7.71 PER (Player Efficiency Rating) this season. That’s bad. Maybe Reddish simply isn’t it. The Knicks took a shot and it hasn’t worked. He may not be a great fit for this team. It may be time to move on.
