Houston’s own outgoing draft picks
While the Nets owe Houston a potentially good pick in 2024 and swap in 2025, Houston finds itself in the same position owing its own pick and swap in those years to Oklahoma City as a result of the Russell Westbrook-Chris Paul trade.
That trade protects Houston’s 2024 pick only if it’s top-four, so they probably shouldn’t count their chickens (even if their 2021 pick did stay top-four and not transfer to OKC.) They may want to spite OKC by ensuring the pick they send out is closer to 15, or even 20, than 5.
Perhaps the Nets and Rockets can strike some kind of enemy-of-my-enemy arrangement. Crazier things have happened!
