NBA Trade Rumors: Suns, Lakers looking to pry Bojan Bogdanovic away from Pistons
NBA Trade Rumors: The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to pry Bojan Bogdanovic away from the Detroit Pistons at the trade deadline.
The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers may be in two different spots to start the season in the Western Conference hierarchy. The Suns are 8-4 and near the top of the standings. The Lakers on the other hand, well let’s just say they’re struggling.
Los Angeles is 3-10 and just one ahead of the Houston Rockets for the worst record in the league. However, the expectation is that both teams will be looking to make in-season trades that could give their respective squads the jolt it needs for the push toward the playoffs.
Leading up to the NBA’s Trade Deadline, the expectation is that there will be many teams – in addition to the Suns and Lakers – looking to pry valuable and productive veterans away from rebuilding teams. And one prime candidate at the deadline will be Detroit Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic, whom both the Suns and Lakers are reportedly keeping an eye on.
The big question is whether or not the Pistons will trade Bogdanovic at the deadline.
Bojan Bogdanovic has been sensational this season
At the age of 33, you can make the argument that Bogdanovic is playing some of the best basketball of his career. Through the first few weeks of the season with the Pistons, Bogdanovic is averaging 20 points and three rebounds per game on 51 percent shooting from the field and 43 percent shooting from 3-point range.
He’s arguably the Pistons’ most consistent player at the moment and has quickly evolved into a valuable asset for Detroit. If he continues to play at this level heading into the deadline, there’s no question that the Pistons will be able to get a nice haul for him.
That’s of course if they decide to trade him. Interestingly, Detroit signed him to an extension a couple of weeks ago. It will not impact his trade eligibility and could’ve been a plot to help improve his trade stock.
Now that he’s not on an expiring deal, perhaps that will help the Pistons get even more in a potential deal. Or maybe he’s a player that the team wants to keep involved with their young players and perhaps they believe next season is when their young players will make a leap and Bogdanovic will be around to help as a veteran.
It’s difficult to read the Pistons at the moment but there’s no question that if they decide to trade Bogdanovic, there will be plenty of teams interested. Including the Suns and Lakers.
