The young players aren’t ready and the Golden State Warriors can’t afford to wait around for them

For as good as the Golden State Warriors young core is, they have left much to be desired with a much larger role so far this season. With the exception of Jordan Poole (and you can even question some of his efficiency numbers), the team’s valued young trio has, quite frankly, been somewhat of a disappointment.

In 10 games this season, James Wiseman is only averaging seven points and four rebounds in14 minutes per game. This is not the step forward that many envisioned for the young, talented big man entering the season.

It gets even worse.

Moses Moody, who many were raving about during the summer, is averaging six points on 41 percent shooting in 16 minutes per game. Similarly, Jonathan Kuminga is averaging just four points per game on 39 percent shooting from the field in 13 minutes per contest.

The hope was that this season the Warriors would be able to give the young players a larger role and their youth and athleticism would ignite the team off the bench. So far, that hasn’t happened. In fact, you can make an argument that they’ve only hurt the team.

The Warriors aren’t a team that should be experimenting. Not in Steph Curry’s prime.
