Few teams are able to have their cake and eat it too – the Golden State Warriors won’t be the exception
It would’ve been amazing to watch the Golden State Warriors pull off this master plan. But they can’t fall too in love with themselves and their ability to be “light years ahead” of everyone else. Because they’re not. In fact, they were only two games better than the Boston Celtics in last year’s NBA Finals. And right now, they aren’t “light years” better than anyone.
The Warriors need to come to the conclusion that they’re not rebuilding. They can’t bet on their young players to help bridge the gap to more championships. If they do so, by the time their young players are ready, Curry will be entering retirement. Curry will be 35 years old in March. He doesn’t have time to be waiting around until it clicks for James Wiseman.
With all due respect, it’s time for the Warriors to go all-in and use their young pieces to extend Curry’s championship window.
