NBA Trade Rumors: 3 Julius Randle trade ideas the Knicks should explore
New York Knicks send Julius Randle to the Miami Heat in a three-team trade
In this deal, the Miami Heat would land Julius Randle, Derrick Rose, and a first-round pick (via Dallas from New York) in exchange for sending Kyle Lowry (to the Lakers), Gabe Vincent (to the Knicks), and Duncan Robinson (to the Knicks). Additionally, the Lakers would absorb Evan Fournier and send Russell Westbrook to the Knicks. For the favor, the Lakers would send a first-round pick to New York.
It’s not the perfect trade but it could be an option. Especially if the Heat and Lakers continue to struggle. I’m not sure if any one of these three teams will get substantially better on paper, but perhaps we could see some addition by subtraction involved and make this deal worth it for all teams involved.
For the Knicks specifically, this deal would be more about getting out from under Randle’s contract. They would open some more cap space heading into the summer while also adding a shooter that could be moved next season pretty easily considering he’d be on an expiring contract.
Again, I don’t believe this is an ideal move for the Knicks to make but it may be an option if they are looking to get rid of Randle.
