New York Knicks trade Julius Randle to the Oklahoma City Thunder
There are growing whispers that the Oklahoma City Thunder may need to make a win-now move soon. This is a team that has a roster full of young talent and could potentially benefit from a veteran player that can produce. Perhaps that may open the door for a player such as Julius Randle.
It may not be an ideal target but he could be available and be relatively cheap. In this win-win deal for the Thunder, they would part ways with Lu Dort, Mike Muscala, and Darius Bazley. They would gain Randle in an attempt to show the team they are trying to compete now and also add a future draft asset that could help with the rebuild.
Of course, the Dort move could hurt. But perhaps he’s a player the team would be willing to move? The Knicks get a defensive presence in Dort while finding a team that is willing to take Randle’s contract. New York would surrender a draft asset to make it work, but they have plenty of those.
It wouldn’t be surprising if the Knicks came to the conclusion that this is finally the time when they need to move on from Julius Randle. It may be complicated to find the right deal but you’d have to imagine there is one team out there willing to make a move for him. And all it takes is one.
