NBA Trade Rumors: The Charlotte Hornets may be inching closer and closer to blowing up their roster at the trade deadline.
After a rough offseason, I don’t think anyone is surprised with the start of the season for the Charlotte Hornets. This is a team that has some solid pieces on the roster, but is not in a place where they can compete with the majority of the rest of the Eastern Conference.
And that’s not terrible. That’s daily fine, especially considering that this is a team that is trying to set the foundation of what they want the franchise to be in the future.
Although, their rough start of the season will prompt some big questions that the team will need to answer over the next few weeks. With the question at the top of the list being, is it time to hit the reset button?
According to a recent report, the Hornets may be getting to that point. Per this report, the Hornets could end up making some of their players available at the deadline. A full blown fire sale at the deadline remains to be seen, but it may actually make a ton of sense.
The perfect storm for the Charlotte Hornets
Ball re-injured an ankle that forced him to miss the start of the season. He’s expected to miss some time but the hope is the injury isn’t bad. But I’m not sure that’s something we can assume either.
Add in that to the fact that the Hornets have struggled at the start of the year and the perfect storm for Charlotte is starting to develop.
Quite frankly, you can make the argument that may be the best path forward for this team this season. It’s looking more and more like the Hornets need to hit the soft reset button. With as strong as the 2023 NBA Draft class is, this may actually be a perfect time for the Hornets to do so.
Charlotte is certainly a team to keep an eye on as we inch closer and closer to the NBA Trade Deadline. Will we see a fire sale from the Hornets this season? Only time will tell.
