The Miami Heat is probably going to be interested in many of the veteran players that find their way to the NBA Trade Block ahead of the deadline. Though, there are concerns about Gordon Hayward’s potential fit on the Heat – and some of them go beyond the $31 million that he’s due next season.

One of the first big questions that the Heat needs to answer is where they’re going to play Hayward. And whether he can play the position that Miami is likely going to want to play him at – which is the power forward position. Hayward has played it at times during his career but playing it full-time may be new to him.

And with the durability issues that he would come with, you’d have to wonder if that’s the best way to use Hayward. The good news is that the Heat has versatile defenders in the starting 5 that would take some of the defensive pressure off of Hayward.

Playing next to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo in the frontcourt would make the transition easier, but you’d still have to wonder if Hayward would thrive in such a role.
