Los Angeles Lakers
What to be grateful for: LeBron James’ contract extension
The Los Angeles Lakers are a mess and have no identity. They don’t have a roster that complements one another and that has been at the forefront of the team’s issues over the last season and a half. The hope is that the team could make an in-season trade to fix, but it’s hard to see one that will solve all the team’s issues at this point.
In the midst of all that, LeBron James signed an extension with the team this past offseason. It was a glimmer of good news for a franchise that was otherwise taking L’s nearly on every other front.
For one reason or another, LeBron decided to somewhat prematurely sign a contract extension with the Lakers. That’s something Los Angeles should be thankful for. Imagine if the Lakers were having this season on top of having to worry about LeBron’s impending free-agency decision during the offseason.
