NBA Trade Rumors: Another report suggests that we could be inching closer and closer to the Atlanta Hawks trading John Collins.

The Atlanta Hawks have gotten off to a solid start to the season. They’re currently third in the Eastern Conference standings and despite some ups and downs, the backcourt duo of Dejounte Murray and Trae Young seems to be meshing well.

So well that perhaps the Hawks are finally ready to move on from John Collins.

According to another report, there is “momentum building” that both sides (the Hawks and Collins) are determined to find a new landing spot for the big man.

Honestly, this second report is encouraging. When it was initially reported that the Hawks were ready to open trade discussions for Collins, I was a bit hesitant. Even though it would be a bad look for Atlanta to go through all this again and not trade Collins, I really wasn’t sold on the idea that the Hawks were 100 percent operating from a position where they were ready to move on from Collins.

However, this second report seems to suggest that it’s something both sides want and are looking forward to.

Which team will provide the best offer for the Atlanta Hawks?

This is the big question. Which team, if any, is going to come to the Hawks and make a substantial offer that Atlanta won’t be able to decline? You’d have to imagine that it will have to come from a team that will be operating from a desperate position – a team that has grossly underwhelmed so far this season.

Either that or you’re looking for a team with a fairly young core that will be looking to take a step forward in their build. A team that will essentially try to bid low for a player with a higher ceiling than he’s reached thus far in his career.

Teams that have already been linked to Collins are the Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz. Both of those teams seem to fit the narrative. The Suns are desperate in the fact that they need to win a championship soon, especially with time running out on Chris Paul’s career.

The Jazz could be looking to see if they could get Collins on the cheap, which would be a smart move from the front office.

A few other teams that I believe could be interested from a logical perspective are the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Hornets, Oklahoma City Thunder, and San Antonio Spurs.
