Ben Simmons must realize he has support from teammates

The Brooklyn Nets have won two games in a row and Ben Simmons has scored in double figures in his last three games as he appears to have adjusted to the offensive scheme. He has to remember that he is surrounded by MVP-caliber players with championship experience, and if he can play up to his enormous potential, there is no telling just how far this team can go.

Simmons is the key to opening up the offense with the way he runs the pick-and-roll to the give-and-go. Simmons would be wise to seek advice from Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving ahead of this game as they have already experienced what he is about to face from the media attention and being placed under a microscope.

Durant’s return to Oklahoma City after joining the Golden State Warriors was anything but pleasant as he did not receive a warm welcome. Irving went through the same thing twice. Once returning to Cleveland and going through it again in his return to Boston, both veterans adjusted well to the pressure from the home crowd.

With Durant and Irving being able to cause so many problems for opposing defenses, Simmons most likely will draw mismatches. He must continue to be aggressive and continue to focus on doing his part and playing his role as he is in the perfect position to thrive.

Just a few seasons ago Simmons was considered a top-tier player in this league, and while he has never been much of a scoring threat, it has been good to see him contributing as he continues to build his confidence.
