Retool around Jimmy Butler

The first and (probably) most likely option for the Miami Heat right now has to include retooling around Jimmy Butler. Though, there are some serious obstacles to the front office being successful in this attempt. For one, it’s not like the Heat has easy contracts to move.

Theoretically, if the Heat wanted to retool around Jimmy that would mean trading the likes of Kyle Lowry, Duncan Robinson, and maybe Tyler Herro. Those are three difficult contracts to move if you’re not attaching an asset to them.

So while retooling around Jimmy sounds like the most logical way forward for the Heat, it’s hard to envision big moves that would reflect a “retooling” of the roster with the assets that the Heat has at its disposal.

Lowry is at the point of his career where he’s probably no longer viewed as a positive asset. The same thing should be said about Robinson. And while Herro does have some value, his poison pill contract would make him difficult to move this season.
