NBA Trade Rumors: Warriors to target game-changing big at the deadline?
NBA Trade Rumors: In an attempt to add some size, the Golden State Warriors could target Myles Turner or Jakob Poeltl at the NBA Trade Deadline.
The Golden State Warriors are currently under .500 at 9-10 and are sitting outside the top 10 in the Western Conference standings. They haven’t been what many expected to see from the defending champions to start the year, but the expectation is that this is a team that is going to turn it around at some point this season.
When will come remains to be seen but there is reportedly one concern that the team could look to address at the NBA Trade Deadline – the lack of depth in the frontcourt. James Wiseman was expected to fill that need for the Warriors but he hasn’t made the strides that the team believed he would make ahead of this season.
That has complicated things for the Warriors and has opened the door for a potential trade.
According to a recent report, the Warriors, in an attempt to add some size ahead of the stretch run, could target Myles Turner or Jakob Poeltl ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline. The question is, would such a move right the ship for the Warriors?
The Golden State Warriors may need a move to jumpstart the team
Another question is whether a move of any kind is actually necessary. On the surface, you would assume not. However, it would not be surprising if Golden State did explore the trade market ahead of the deadline.
Turner and Poeltl are two bigs that would make a lot of sense and would be great fits for the team. The question is if now is the time the Warriors should punt on the development of Wiseman. Any deal for one of those two players will likely cost Wiseman. It would make sense.
On one hand, if Golden State is indeed ready to go all-in on winning this season, you would imagine that trading Wiseman would be a natural move. However, if the team still wants to bridge gaps between the veterans and the young players, giving up on Wiseman now seems short-sighted.
Nevertheless, the front office has some things they need to figure out. And that is one of them.
The Warriors could make a big move at the trade deadline. Even more so if the team can’t shake off their slow start to the year by the deadline.
