6. Cleveland Cavaliers
After the two clear top teams in the Eastern Conference (Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks), you can make a strong case that the Cleveland Cavaliers have begun to separate themselves as the third team in the conference. The big question is whether or not their early-season success is sustainable.
On the surface, you have to assume that it is. A core three of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley is one that should help the Cavs take the next step this season. There’s no question at this point that the addition of Mitchell has helped expedite this team’s progression.
Whether or not the Cavs can actually turn their early-season success into post-season success will largely depend on the continued development of Garland, Mobley, and the team’s evolving supporting cast.
