NBA Trade Rumors: In an attempt to balance their roster, Patrick Beverley is a player that could emerge as a trade candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers.

As the Los Angeles Lakers continue to try and find their footing at the start of this season, nearly all the signs surrounding this team suggest that a trade may be needed to jumpstart this team heading into the second quarter of the season. Though, that may be easier said than done.

It was recently reported that the Lakers may be leaning toward the idea of not trading Russell Westbrook this season and simply “riding out the year” with him. That probably is more of the team indicating that they don’t want to burn their future draft picks to simply get off of Russ’ contract.

That’s understandable and OK. But perhaps there is a smaller trade the Lakers could explore in an attempt to better balance their roster.

And according to a recent report, if that’s something the Lakers do want to consider, there is one player that would make sense as a trade candidate – Patrick Beverley.

The Los Angeles Lakers could look to swap Beverley for help in the frontcourt

Beverley was acquired during the offseason from the Utah Jazz and would be a solid candidate to be moved. Even though he’s struggled this season, he still holds value on the open market as a veteran. He’s probably not at the point in his career where he should be starting, but he could be a valuable backup point guard for a contending team.

The Lakers could hope to swing Beverley on the open market for some help on the wing or in the frontcourt. In other words, the Lakers could look to move Beverley for a player that would have a greater impact on the team than Beverley has had this season.

Whether or not the Lakers would have to include a future first-round pick remains to be seen, but if the Lakers do make a non-Westbrook trade, Beverley seems like a player that will be involved.

The next few weeks will be important for the Lakers moving forward. And how they approach the NBA Trade Deadline will likely depend on how the team performs heading into the New Year.
