NBA Trade Rumors: If the recent rumblings are any indication, the Los Angeles Lakers will make a big move in the next month.
There’s hope that the Los Angeles Lakers have begun to turn a corner after their early-season struggles but this is still a team that many expect to make a move – potentially attempt to make a big one – before the NBA Trade Deadline.
And with the NBA Trade Deadline a little more than just three months away, the trade whispers are only going to grow louder and louder surrounding the Lakers over the next few weeks. They’ve already been linked to a few possible moves and you’d have to wonder when/if the Lakers will eventually make a move.
They can’t possibly wait to make a deal all the way up to the NBA Trade Deadline, right?
According to a recent report, the expectation is that the Lakers will make some sort of trade within the next month. What that trade ends up looking like remains to be seen but it seems like we’re inching closer and closer to the Lakers finally making a move.
The potential options for the Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers don’t have much flexibility but they have some options heading into the NBA Trade Deadline season. They could move Russell Westbrook and picks in an attempt to really shake up the roster.
They could also elect to keep Russ in a role that he’s somewhat excelling in (off the bench) and elect to make a much smaller move, perhaps moving Patrick Beverley, Kendrick Nunn or some other players along with some draft picks.
At this point, nothing would be surprising from the Lakers. This is a team that needs something to jumpstart this team up the Western Conference standings. Even though the Lakers have played better as of late – they’re 6-4 in their last 10 games – they still have some ground to make up after such a disastrous start to the year.
The Lakers are currently 8-12 and ranked 13th in the West standings. That said, they are just three games out of the sixth seed in the conference.
It’s not outrageous to say that one move could make a major difference for the Lakers. The question is whether or not that difference-making trade is out there to be had for Los Angeles. We shall see over the course of the next few weeks.
