Lakers make a deal with the Utah Jazz
In perhaps a desperate move, the Los Angeles Lakers turn to the Utah Jazz in an attempt to just make the playoffs. This is a move that probably wouldn’t be popular amongst the fan base but would also be a solid move for this season until the Lakers figure out the rest later.
LA would land Mike Conley, Malik Beasley, and Rudy Gay – three solid veteran rotation players – for Russell Westbrook’s contract, Kendrick Nunn, and one of the Lakers’ future first-round picks. Knowing the Jazz, they may not accept this deal until LA offers up both their future first-round picks, but if that is the case, I don’t see this deal being worth it for LA.
All in all, this is not a terrible deal considering where the Lakers are at the moment. At the same time, I’m not sure this is a deal that will allow them to make the jump to contention in the Western Conference.
It’s a deal that seems feasible but, at the same time, I’m not sure it’s worthwhile for the Lakers in the long run.
