Lakers get help from an old foe
In what would also be likely considered a smaller deal, the Los Angeles Lakers could look to target Josh Richardson and Jakob Poeltl from the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Russell Westbrook and one of the LA’s future first-round pick.
The Lakers would get a really good asset in exchange for two players that they probably aren’t going to re-sign in the offseason anyways. Who knows how much the Lakers’ ceiling will be raised by this move but it’s a low-risk trade that could help get LA back on track during the second half of the season.
Richardson would give the Lakers another guard they can throw in the rotation, who is also a good defender. He’s also a really good 3-point shooter. Poeltl is an interesting big that could stretch the floor and defend at a high level.
Whether the Lakers could play him next to Anthony Davis remains to be seen, but it could add an interesting element that they don’t currently have at the moment.
