The Los Angeles Lakers lack the depth necessary to keep this level of play up

One trait that many of the most consistent teams in the league have is depth. It’s the one thing that often separates the consistently great teams from the good teams in the league. We see the overwhelming depth from the likes of the Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, and Milwaukee Bucks.

It’s one of the reasons why they’ve managed to place themselves in a tier above everyone else in the league. But, even if you believe in the team’s recent 10-game streak, one thing you can’t say that they have is depth. After LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook, there’s not much else on the Lakers that they can consistently rely on.

During the Lakers’ recent streak, the team’s big three accounts for 61 percent of the offensive output. Lonnie Walker has been great recently but I’m not sure the Lakers can expect him to average 18 points per game for the rest of the season.

Los Angeles needs depth, perhaps more than a third star next to AD and LeBron. And, ultimately, it may be a big reason why their recent play isn’t sustainable.
