What is the plan for Julius Randle?

Moving off head coaching, one of the first big decisions that the team needs to make revolves around Julius Randle. More specifically, what is the plan for Randle moving forward? Is he considered part of the team’s build? Are they ready to move him via trade? Are they still feeling him out?

This is something that has to be figured out sooner rather than later. If they know one way or another, that needs to be clear within the front office. If the Knicks are trying to trade him – or will look to try and trade him – they just have to be decisive about it. There’s no better way to waste time than having a player on the roster that you have no interest in building around.

And, specifically for Randle, the worst about all this is that he’s probably a movable player. He’s not an aging veteran on a bad contract. Randle may not be on a great contract, but he’s still just 28 years old and there has to be one team out there that believes they can make lemonade out of lemons. Especially if the Knicks are willing to add a sweetener in a deal.

If the Knicks were willing to include a future first-round pick (which they have plenty of), there’s no question they’d be able to move him at the NBA Trade Deadline. If that’s how the Knicks are leaning regarding Randle, they need to just pull the trigger already.
