Gorgui Dieng, San Antonio Spurs

After signing a one-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs during the offseason, Gorgui Dieng becomes trade-eligible this week. I’m not certain that the Spurs will trade him but if there is a playoff contender looking for some size, there may not be a cheaper option on the open market.

And we know the Spurs are going to make a move or two ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline. It would be somewhat surprising for Dieng to re-sign with the Spurs and considering he’s bounced in and out of the team’s rotation, it would probably be in the best interest of both sides to work out a trade.

Over his past three seasons, Dieng has really struggled to find a defined role with the Atlanta Hawks and then with the Spurs. And you’d have to wonder whether he’ll have many more chances at doing so at the age of 32. Though, it would be a good bet that Dieng gets moved if the Spurs start selling off some of their assets.
