Harrison Barnes, Sacramento Kings

The reason why I believe that Harrison Barnes is a realistic option is that he is. Looking at all the available information that we have on Barnes, it would be shocking if he wasn’t shopped leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline. Barnes is on an expiring contract and is a player that isn’t likely viewed as a foundational piece of the franchise.

If the Kings wanted to capitalize on the asset that Barnes has become during his tenure with the Kings, this is how to do it – trade him at the deadline. However, capitalizing on assets isn’t a specialty of this organization. And I’m afraid they may fall too in love with just being in the playoff race where they won’t see the big picture.

Nevertheless, if the Lakers wanted to find some insurance (especially after the injury to Anthony Davis), Barnes would be a solid addition. Plus, he could play next to AD effectively as well.

If the Lakers offered a salary filler and a future first-round pick for Barnes, I have a hard time believing that the Kings decline that.
