NBA Trade Rumors: The New York Knicks are keeping a close on Zach LaVine, who might be having a fallout with the Chicago Bulls.
If recent reports are any indication, there could be a major falling out that is taking place in Chicago between the Bulls. There is still plenty that needs to be figured out in-house but there’s at least a non-zero chance that there could be difficult waters ahead for this franchise.
And while many around the league are keeping a close eye on what’s happening in Chicago, the New York Knicks, specifically, are keeping a close eye on Zach LaVine.
LaVine just re-signed with the Bulls during the offseason but in the player-empowerment movement, anything can happen at any given moment. I’m not saying that LaVine is going to demand a trade but I also don’t think we can completely throw that idea out the window. Especially considering how bad the Bulls have looked this season. It’s not outrageous to say that the current Bulls build is not working and may need a retooling of sorts.
If that’s something they explore, the Knicks are absolutely a team that could make things interesting. They have a plethora of future first-round picks and some interesting young pieces that they could theoretically include in a deal.
The resurgent New York Knicks have turned their season around
Over the past few weeks, the Knicks have successfully turned their season around. They’ve won eight games in a row and tied with the Philadelpiha 76ers for the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference standings.
They are also just one game back of the 4th seed and just two games back of the 3rd seed. Even though the Knicks likely aren’t going to be able to continue to play at this pace for the remainder of the season, there is a level of optimism that has fallen over this team in the last couple of weeks.
So much so, that it isn’t insane to think that the Knicks may truly be just a piece away from being a real contender in the East.
And if any big name emerges on the trade block, the Knicks will absolutely be involved. They could potentially outbid any other team in the league for a star and if LaVine gets to that point, he could surely be a target for New York.
I guess the big question is whether or not it will all blow up for Chicago or not.
