NBA Trade Rumors: New York Knicks have explored acquiring Tobias Harris
NBA Trade Rumors: The New York Knicks have discussed a possible move for Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris ahead of the trade deadline.
The New York Knicks have been on quite the roll during the month of December, but their performance on Christmas Day (a loss against the Philadelphia 76ers) proves that there are still improvements that this team needs to make if they’re going to be a true contender in the Eastern Conference.
And the belief is that the team could make a season-altering move at the NBA Trade Deadline. They certainly have the assets to make it happen. It all comes down to whether or not there is the right market for the Knicks or not.
According to a recent report, one player that the Knicks have explored the possibility of acquiring via trade is Sixers forward Tobias Harris. Though, as you would expect, there are some obstacles to that possibility.
Would Tobias Harris be a fit for the New York Knicks?
Harris is generally one of the more overlooked players in the league. But his contract truly prevents him from being an underrated player. He’s generally been productive at every stop of his career thus far and is averaging 17 points and six rebounds on 49 percent shooting from the field and 41 percent n shooting from 3-point range.
Theoretically, Harris would be a fit for the Knicks, especially considering the Knicks could use some scoring on the wing. New York could fit his contract on their books (he’s due $39 million next season) and could help the team simultaneously.
Of course, the question then becomes what the Sixers would want in return for Harris. You’d have to imagine that the Sixers would be willing to simply get Harris off the books. But he’s been so good for the Sixers this season that you’d have to wonder what the impact would be on the court if they simply swapped him out to open a few dollars to spend during the summer.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Sixers move forward with trying to move on from Harris and if the Knicks become a possible landing spot in that situation. Either way, both teams seem to be locks to try and do something to their roster at the NBA Trade Deadline.
