The NBA’s rumor mill is expected to heat up over the next few weeks as we inch closer and closer to the NBA Trade Deadline. And one player that has suddenly emerged as one of the headlining names heading into the deadline is Kyle Kuzma.
It was originally reported that Kuzma is interested in testing free agency this offseason and that he may not want to re-sign with the Washington Wizards. Now, there are whispers that continue to point at a possible exit from the Nation’s capital. Perhaps even sooner than expected.
According to a recent report, there’s a growing belief that Kuzma could realistically be moved ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline. In other words, he is emerging as a viable trade target for rival teams.
There could be a robust market for Kyle Kuzma
If indeed this report is accurate and the belief is that Kuzma will be traded at some point before this year’s NBA Trade Deadline, it’s safe to say that there will be a robust market for him. He’s arguably playing the best basketball of his career this season for the Wizards and is just 27 years old.
Sure, he’s due for a big-money contract extension this offseason but at this point, he may be worth it for many teams. Kuzma is a power forward that can stretch the score and be a consistent third option on a really good team.
Even though the Wizards have struggled for the majority of this season, Kuzma has shown growth in his game and has been one of the best players on the team this season. The biggest reason why it hasn’t worked in Washington is the lack of top-tier talent that it takes to compete in the Eastern Conference right now.
For as good as Bradley Beal, he’s simply not a No. 1 in today’s game. That’s OK. He’s really good but it’s unreasonable to expect him to lead the Wizards in how deep and competitive the East has become over the last few seasons.

It’ll be interesting to see if Kuzma is in fact traded before the deadline. If he is, he’s certainly a player that could have a huge impact on a playoff team. If he lands on one.
