The Los Angeles Lakers will head into a full rebuild after this season

My final rebuild for the Los Angeles Lakers heading into the 2023 calendar year is that this team will head into a full rebuild during the offseason. After missing the playoffs, not making a big move to mortgage the future at the NBA Trade Deadline, and then LeBron James’ trade demand, the Lakers will effectively blow up their roster.

It will start with trading LeBron and then it will extend with the team exploring trade options for Anthony Davis and other pieces on the roster. Two years removed from the playoffs and with not much hope of the future on the roster, there will be some down and (possibly) dark times ahead for the Lakers franchise.

But this will be necessary to get back to a place where this franchise wants to be. They should get a solid return for LeBron and the same could be said if they do in fact move forward with trading AD (I’m not predicting they will for certain).

The LeBron era in Los Angeles will be remembered as a success but one probably should’ve been more fruitful. It happens but the Lakers would do it all over again if they had the chance to do so. There is much uncertainty ahead for the Lakers heading into 2023.
