NBA Rumors: Two teams that Klay Thompson could reportedly leave the Golden State Warriors for.

If the Golden State Warriors continue to struggle this season and can’t turn away from their recent struggles, the talk about big changes that could come during the offseason is only going to grow. And two players that will revolve around the center of that speculation will be Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

Green can be a free agency this offseason and his situation will likely be resolved sooner rather than later, but Thompson is another player whose future with the Warriors is somewhat up in the air.

And while the Warriors are going to say all the right things and that they want both players back, the reality is that there’s at least a small chance that they could end up moving on from one or both players. Especially if the team continues to struggle with this core. And according to a recent report, if Thompson is drawn away from the Warriors there are two teams that could be of interest to the all-star – the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Klay Thompson enters the final season of his contract with the Golden State Warriors next season

Even though Thompson is not a free agent after this season, he will be a player that will draw much attention. He’s due for an extension and if he doesn’t get one (just as Draymond didn’t), there will be much interest around the league surrounding the situation.

After back-to-back significant injuries, it’s clear that Thompson is not the player that he was during his prime. Still, even at the age of 32, Thompson is a productive player for the Warriors. And it’s likely he’ll be able to continue to be that over the next few seasons.

Where Thompson has seen the most recent drop-off in terms of his offensive consistency. He’s only shooting 40 percent shooting from the field overall. But he is still shooting 38 percent shooting from 3-point range.

If nothing else, Thompson potentially leaving the Warriors is simply something to think about. I still believe the overwhelming thought is that the Warriors will choose to give him the last big-money contract that he’ll likely be seeking either next season or the following.

But if he does make it to free agency, there will be more than a handful of teams interested in his services. And you can probably bet that the Lakers and Blazers may be at the top of the list.
