Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers

This may be the most outlandish of possibilities and I’m going to agree. For now. However, there’s a lot that can change for Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers between now and the offseason. And, quite frankly, I’d bet that some does. Maybe it doesn’t get to a point where Embiid demands a trade, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it does.

Let’s start with the possibility that the Sixers lose in the first or second round of the playoffs again. That would be three straight underwhelming results for the Sixers in the postseason – and the second straight year for this current core.

Keep in mind James Harden is a free agent after the season and there are whispers that he could be plotting his next move. If he leaves, would Embiid want to stick around (at age 29) for another retooling?

It’s a fair question to ask for arguably the best center in the game. Embiid asking for a trade is not out of the realm of possibilities this offseason.
